Residents of 02^nd cross, 1^st D main road, NGEF Layout, Malathahalli, Bengaluru-560056 BBMP ward no.129 have been trying our luck with local authorities to install street lights on this road corner decided to write this petition as collective effort to request for a quick action.

Why street light is important for us? 

• It is our right to live in a fear free society, safety and security of our women and children. 
• This is the only road that takes us out anywhere, Roads are utter dark and lack visibility post sunset hence not safe, especially when it's raining and during winters. Street lights are important to reduce crime and ensure our safety and security especially women and children.
• Most women are working & children’s attending tuitions / playing, it is not only difficult to walk in dark or heavy rain, it could also be a threat to their safety and securities.
• In general, lighting improvements are more likely to have a positive impact on the public’s fear of crime. 
• Open / vacant plots was also partially contributing to rising crime. "About 60% plots are unoccupied making it easy for criminals to target those houses which are isolated. In such a situation, escaping is not very difficult either,''
  • Ø  There are new mentions of crime in this area, thefts, chain snatching, and many more. Residents are tired of trying to reach out to local authorities, who make false promises and take no action.
  • The recent 'Delhi Gang Rape' has revealed a great deal of inefficiency in the system, after such cases, all authorities are expected to work proactively for their areas.
